About Us  Welcome to S Peacock & Son Ltd T/A John Smith Haulage. A family run business that has been on the road for over 30 years.  

Operating from our office on Heath Road between Huntingdon and Chatteris, we transport all manner of goods throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe for a wide range of clients. With a strong team of office staff and drivers, if you need something moving then we are there for you. Our Drivers and Staff are fully trained and qualified with our fleet of vehicles.   

Founded by John Smith, John W Smith started trading over 30 years ago with one Toyota pickup van. Working from home doing the bookings and deliveries, John decided it was time to build his empire by employing staff and investing in more vans and Lorries.   

In 1993 Pete Richardson joined John W Smith to work alongside him to build the company. Growing from strength to strength they managed a fleet of 13 vehicles, which provided a haulage services throughout the UK to many loyal clients. Pete was later promoted to Transport Manager to manage the day to day running of the vehicles and drivers.   

Sadly in 2006 John decided the time had come to retire and sold John W Smith to Sue Fordham, who changed the business name to John Smith Haulage Ltd. Pete stayed on to support Sue in the handover and helped support the business with the high demands, whilst still growing from strength to strength.  

In June 2018 Sue Fordham decided to retire and sold the assets to Steve and Michelle Peacock who already had a business named S Peacock & Son Ltd, which were running in the picturesque town of St Ives.  

S Peacock & Son Ltd have been trading since 2010, so decided to move into the offices at Heath Road and merge the two companies together, taking the next steps to building a family run business.   

Michelle Peacock comes from the construction and medical industry with very strong management skills, which enables her to run the business in a professional manner. Michelle is based in the office and runs all the back office to help support from accounts, payroll and management.  

Steve Peacock was a HGV driver for the last 40 years so has all the skills to run the business from the other side of the fence. He manages the fleet of vans and occasionally drives the lorries and vans when needed.  

Steve and Michelle have a son called George who is 19 and currently studying Sports and Exercise at Leeds Beckett University. 

Pete Richardson is still with the business and in January 2019 he would have been with us 26 years.   

If you were to visit our offices, you will be greeted by our fury friends Max and Pip. Max is our 3 1/2-year-old Chocolate Labrador who loves a fuss and food! Pip is a Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel who is a little more reserved but still loves a fuss.  

We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and offer a reliable, safe and secure transport solution that can be tailored to your individual needs.  

We have been proud members of the Road Haulage Association for over 30 years and put great effort into out customer relationships, ensuring everything runs smoothly and going that extra mile. 

We also hold a Waste Carriers Licence.
